NVIDIA Expands Supply of Jetson, its Popular AI Platform

NVIDIA announced on the 6th that it will expand the supply of its NVIDIA Jetson platform for edge AI into a popular developer kit priced at US$59 (approximately KRW 68,000).
The NVIDIA Jetson Nano 2GB Developer Kit is designed to enable hands-on AI education and learning through projects in areas like robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT). To support this effort, NVIDIA also offers free online training and AI certification programs.
The NVIDIA JetPack SDK, which supports Jetson, comes with the NVIDIA container runtime and a Linux development environment. Additionally, the Jetson Nano 2GB Developer Kit is powered by the same NVIDIA CUDA-X accelerated computing stack used to create breakthrough AI products in areas like self-driving cars, industrial IoT, healthcare, and smart cities.
“Students and engineers today will be interacting with and applying AI to robots,” said Deepu Talla, vice president and general manager of Edge Computing at NVIDIA. “The new Jetson Nano is an entry-level AI computer that enables hands-on learning and experimentation.”
“Integrating NVIDIA Jetson Nano into DuckyTown provides a cutting-edge computing solution for autonomous learning,” said Emilio Frazzoli, professor of dynamic systems and control at ETH Zurich.

Arm finally joins Nvidia... maintaining existing business
Nvidia officially announced its acquisition of Arm from SoftBank for 40 billion dollars, equivalent to approximately 47.36 trillion won in Korean currency. SoftBank, which acquired Arm for 32 billion dollars in 2016, realized a capital gain of 8 billion dollars through this sale. Following the acquisition, Nvidia will pay SoftBank a total of 21.5 billion dollars in the form of 44.3 million shares of its common stock and 12 billion dollars in cash. SoftBank will receive up to an additional 5 billion dollars in cash or common stock from Nvidia based on Arm's future financial performance.

ST Microelectronics and NUS Establish Joint Research Center 'HELIX' for Edge AI
ST Microelectronics and the National University of Singapore have established the 'HELIX' joint research center aimed at implementing embedded AI in edge environments. Over a four-year period, the center will conduct research across the entire technology stack from algorithms to silicon, focusing on memory-centric architecture leveraging ST's 18nm FD-SOI technology and embedded PCM. The core objective is to implement intelligence directly in physical devices such as robots and drones while minimizing energy consumption.
