STMicroelectronics (ST) announced on the 12th that it will release the embedded flash-based 'STM32' microcontroller (MCU). The new STM32H7 MCUs are built around the Arm® Cortex®-M7 core and operate at 550MHz, the fastest core speed on the market among MCUs with on-chip flash storage for running embedded applications. Supporting up to 1 Mbyte of flash, this single-core device delivers enhanced performance at an economical cost.

The device can also interact with external storage, and benchmark performance figures of 2778 CoreMark® and 1177 DMIPS are achieved from both internal and external memory via features such as the Flexible Memory Controller (FMC) and the Octal SPI memory interface.

The TouchGFX graphics framework STM32Cube expansion package (X-CUBE-TOUCHGFX) and the TouchGFX Designer programming tool, which support the creation of full-color user interfaces, are also provided free of charge.

Therefore, the STM32Cube ecosystem and STM32Cube.AI (X-CUBE-AI) make it easy to develop AI technologies, allowing you to port neural networks and utilize computer vision with the parallel camera interface.

Cyber protection is also enhanced with On-The-Fly Decryption (OTFDEC) and Secure Firmware Install (SFI), both supported as part of the STM32Trust security suite. OTFDEC enables encrypted code execution from external memory. SFI allows OEMs to purchase standard products worldwide that can only be programmed with encrypted code. These two solutions effectively protect OEMs' intellectual property (IP) in flash memory.
