Establishing standards for safely storing and managing manufacturing data
Plans to implement and operate an AI-powered manufacturing platform for small and medium-sized ventures by the end of this year.


The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced on the 29th that it will hold the 'Artificial Intelligence and Manufacturing Data Strategy Committee' to propose the 'Manufacturing Data Sharing Standards' and prepare a final draft through a process of revision and supplementation through expert discussion and hearing of opinions.


The world's first "Manufacturing Data Sharing Standard" was established to lay the foundation for the "My Manufacturing Data Era," which utilizes manufacturing data generated in smart factories and returns the profits to data-producing manufacturing companies.

It is composed of practical and specific content that can be used when trading or utilizing manufacturing data, including the basic principles and regulations necessary for companies to safely store and manage data in actual fields and analyze and trade it using artificial intelligence.

The "Manufacturing Data Sharing Standards" are guidelines on the following: △ specific sharing conditions for contracts for the provision and use of manufacturing data; △ payment principles for permitting the transfer or use of manufacturing data; and △ principles and standards for liability for collateral in the process of creating and using manufacturing data. In addition, the definition and scope of manufacturing data, transaction requirements, profit distribution, and other principles were stipulated, and the rights relationship between producers, providers, and users of manufacturing data was clarified.

“In order for manufacturing data trading to become more active, it is important to create a safe and fair trading environment,” said Cha Jeong-hoon, director of the Startup and Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. “We plan to continuously improve the standards by focusing on any difficulties or shortcomings discovered during actual trading or use of manufacturing data between companies.”
