Infineon announces power diode product line for automotive welding

Infineon Technologies launched a new generation of power diodes suitable for medium frequency resistance welding and high-current rectifier applications on the 6th.

The diodes meet requirements for high forward current, low conduction losses, and high power cycling capacity, delivering optimal performance throughout their lifetime while reducing maintenance needs. They are suitable for spot welding, low-voltage electroplating, and surge protection applications in the automotive sector.
The new welding diode product line offers the highest power cycling capacity in the industry. Compared to conventional products, the on-state voltage is lower, allowing 10-15% higher current. Customers can choose between longer lifetime and increased current capability for their applications.
These power diodes incorporate various new features and provide complete mechanical compatibility, enabling direct replacement of diodes in existing designs to improve performance. The △38DN06B02, △46DN06B02, △56DN06B02, and △65DN06B02 products are offered in standard specifications with 38/46/56/65mm diameters and 600V blocking voltage.

Semiconductor chips contain up to billions of transistors and diodes. These microscopic devices exist in the form of patterns drawn within multiple layers of materials. A research team led by Professor Nam-goong Sun from the Department of Physics at UNIST has developed a technology to manufacture semiconductor patterns using only atomic layer deposition (ALD), a process that coats materials in thin layers repeatedly.
