SK Materials' performance this year is expected to increase significantly amid the memory semiconductor big cycle.


Shinhan Investment Corp. researcher So Hyeon-cheol predicted in a corporate analysis report released on the 15th that SK Materials' 2021 sales would reach KRW 1.1798 trillion, a 23.5% increase from the previous year. Additionally, operating profit is expected to reach KRW 290.9 billion, a 24.4% increase year-on-year.

Research Fellow So Hyun-chul predicted that the global DRAM and NAND market sizes in 2021 will increase by 24.6% and 18.3% year-on-year to $83.5 billion and $67 billion, respectively, due to the global semiconductor big cycle, based on data from DRAMeXchange.

As a result, the demand for semiconductor cleaning gases, deposition gases, etching gases, and precursors is expected to increase significantly, and it is predicted that the demand growth trend will continue in the future due to the U.S. government's strong semiconductor promotion policy.

SK Materials entered the OLED blue dopant business through the establishment of SK Materials JNC, and acquired shares in Group 14 Technology, a US silicon anode material venture company, to enter the secondary battery anode material business.

Additionally, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix's DRAM lines, P2 and M16, are expected to begin full-scale operations starting in the second quarter.

In the second half of the year, LG Display's Guangzhou OLED TV expansion line and Samsung Display's QD OLED line are expected to come online.
