A policy consultative body has been launched to revitalize the demand-linked carbon industry ecosystem and expand the market.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the launch ceremony for the 'Carbon Material Convergence Alliance' at the Seoul Textile Center on the 28th.

The Carbon Materials Convergence Alliance is a consultative body for solidarity and cooperation aimed at expanding demand and creating new markets in the carbon materials industry. Today's event was attended by approximately 40 people, including the President of the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, the President of the Carbon Nano Industry Association, corporate representatives from each working group, and speakers from the Carbon Neutrality Tech Forum.

The 'Carbon Material Convergence Alliance' launched on this day consists of a working group for the promotion of demand industries and promising items and a working group for carbon neutrality, and will identify and plan policy tasks for the creation and expansion of the carbon material convergence industry ecosystem.

The Alliance and each working group will undertake roles such as identifying policy agendas and deliberating on projects through quarterly regular and irregular meetings, proposing industrial development plans linked to five major demand industries, planning implementation measures for creating markets for promising items, and developing implementation measures for achieving carbon neutrality.

Specifically, the Alliance plans to operate the General Alliance Meeting, the Demand Industry Promotion Working Group, the Promising Items Working Group, and the Carbon Neutrality Working Group to conduct discussions on creating markets through linkage with demand industries, establishing promotion plans through policy discovery, and supporting demonstrations in upstream and downstream business sectors.

In addition, 'carbon material convergence and compositeIt is expected that through the mid-to-long-term cooperation and consensus building of 'Lions,' it will be possible to establish phased and timely implementation plans that can be reflected in industrial support and revitalization policies, and to lay the foundation for support.

At the 'Tech Forum for the Realization of Carbon Neutrality by 2050,' expert seminars on industrial policy, eco-friendly vehicles, energy, shipbuilding and marine industries, and climate and environment were held, along with discussions on ways to create new growth engines for the era of carbon neutrality.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to use the 'Carbon Material Convergence Alliance' as an opportunity to promote the carbon material convergence industry, and establish a virtuous cycle system to strengthen the competitiveness of materials, parts, and equipment, create new markets, and revitalize the industrial ecosystem in the future.

Director Kang Kyung-sung stated, “This will serve as an opportunity for solidarity and cooperation to seek growth strategies for the carbon material convergence industry,” adding, “It will be of great significance in maximizing convergence synergies between different industries and accelerating the Green New Deal.”

Bang Yun-hyeok, President of the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, emphasized, “The Carbon Material Convergence Alliance launched today will be the seed for revitalizing the carbon industry,” adding, “Furthermore, to realize carbon neutrality, it is necessary to promote research and development, process improvements, and environmental impact assessments from a full-cycle perspective, ranging from the material stage to the recycling of waste products.”

Park Jong-soo, Chairman of the Korea Carbon Nano Industry Association, expressed his hope that “the Carbon Material Convergence Alliance will operate as a performance-oriented working group in which the materials, parts, and equipment industry and demand companies unite and cooperate to set specific goals for elemental technology development and commercialization, and to identify and propose necessary policies.”
