Wonik Materials Q1 2021 Business Performance (based on consolidated financial statements, unit: KRW 100 million, %)
Wonik Materials announced its preliminary earnings results for the first quarter of 2021 on the 4th. According to the results, consolidated sales increased 4.9% year-on-year to KRW 69.6 billion, while operating profit decreased 2.9% year-on-year to KRW 10.5 billion. Net income for the period reached KRW 11.3 billion, a 34.3% increase year-on-year.

Materials Research Institute of Korea, Development of Lead-Free Perovskite-Based Ammonia Gas Sensor
The Korea Institute of Materials Science has developed an ultra-high sensitivity ammonia gas sensor applying lead-free perovskite instead of lead-based materials. This sensor can detect minute leaks at the level of 1ppm, and the newly identified operating principle presents a new direction for gas sensor research. It is expected to be utilized in enhancing the safety of hydrogen and ammonia energy infrastructure.
