ASML has continued to sell semiconductor production equipment to China despite U.S. export restrictions on semiconductor technology to China.

According to ASML's 2021 Q1 financial report released recently, the company exported a total of 11 lithography systems to China in Q1 2021.

Additionally, it is reported that ASML concluded a $1.2 billion purchase agreement with SMIC in March this year.

For ASML, China is the third-largest market globally, accounting for 15% of total sales.

It is also reported that ASML plans to supply EUV equipment to SMIC.

Meanwhile, starting in December of last year, the U.S. government has required approval from the U.S. Commerce Department to export semiconductor equipment and components containing U.S. technology to major Chinese companies, including SMIC.
