Hilscher announced on the 13th that it has expanded its "cifX" PC card product line. This line adds real-time communications to PC-based control functions such as IPC, HMI, and robotics. The cifX network interface family supports both real-time Ethernet and fieldbus systems.

It also includes all common PC card formats, allowing you to add network connectivity to your products and systems in the easiest and fastest way possible. It also ensures consistent access and usability. For example, simply loading an alternate firmware allows the driver for one card type to work with another card format of the same network type.

As PC-based automation evolves, the Hilscher cifX PC card family supports it. Available formats include PCI, PCI Express, Compact PCI, Low-Profile PCIe, Mini PCIe, Half-Height PCI Express, Mini PCI, PCI/104, and PCI 104, as well as all common Real-Time Ethernet (RTE) and fieldbus protocols.

◇ New cifX product, M.2 format PCI Express card

Each card is loaded with the appropriate pre-certified protocol. The protocol stack runs autonomously on the card, and process data exchange with the host is handled via dual-port memory or Direct Memory Access (DMA).

All Hilscher PC cards use the same drivers and tools, regardless of protocol or card format. The Hilscher netX chip allows for the implementation of all real-time Ethernet protocols with a single hardware type, and protocols can be changed by loading different firmware.

A wide range of connectors and accessories provide the right solution for any application, with various cable lengths, M-12 connectors, additional NVRAM, extended temperature ranges, 2-channel cards or separate network interfaces.

Additionally, various device drivers and C-toolkits are available free of charge. With the continued expansion of new standards, protocols, and formats, such as M.2, Mini PCIe Half-Size, and CC-Link IE Field, customers can always be prepared for new market demands.
