Laser processing technology experts gathered together to create high added value in the Southeastern region's machinery industry.

The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (President Sang-jin Park) held a ‘Laser Processing Technology Exchange Meeting’ at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Busan on the 26th.

This laser processing technology exchange meeting also introduced the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials' corporate support program, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation's corporate support project, and the Korea Maritime and Ocean University's laser human resource training project.

Additionally, Professor Choi Hae-un of Keimyung University introduced laser application technologies that can be applied to electric vehicles, which are attracting attention as the latest field in the laser field.

Furthermore, Hanlai Vitech Co., Ltd., which received technical support from the Laser Technology Industrialization Research Group of the Busan Machinery Technology Research Center, received a commendation from the Busan Mayor in recognition of its efforts to advance laser processing technology, adding further significance. Nam Ki-jeong, Director of Hanlai Vitech, presented on "KIMM Corporate Support Best Practices."

The Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials has been supporting the integration of the laser industry, a future cutting-edge industry, with existing industries to create high added value in the Southeastern region's machinery industry. To this end, we have been providing continuous corporate support since the establishment of the Laser Processing Technology Exchange Association in May 2015.

With support from the Busan Metropolitan City, the Busan Machinery Technology Research Center of the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) provides laser processing technology support to approximately 10 companies annually. Since 2014, companies receiving support from the KIMM have generated a total of 15 billion won in sales and created 40 new jobs.

Additionally, we are supporting field technical difficulties and promoting field technician training by utilizing laser processing equipment built with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Busan Metropolitan City.

Cho Gyu-baek, head of the Busan Machinery Technology Research Center at the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, said, “We will conduct joint research that can apply the laser technology know-how of the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials to the corporate field by jointly utilizing excellent equipment,” and added, “We will go beyond simple technology transfer and provide in-depth support to companies to support joint technology development and help them become technologically independent.”
