The 10th Busan International Machinery Fair has grandly opened its curtains, offering a comprehensive view of the future of the machinery industry to be realized through global trends, smart factories, and manufacturing innovation.

The 10th Busan International Machinery Exhibition (BUTECH 2021), hosted by Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Hyung-joon), the Busan Machinery Industry Cooperative, and the Busan-Gyeongnam Mold Industry Cooperative, and organized by the Korea Industrial Marketing Research Institute, was held at BEXCO in Busan for four days from May 26 to 29.

BUTECH 2021, held under the theme of 'A venue for smart manufacturing technology innovation,' featured 371 companies from 25 countries occupying 1,036 booths.

In particular, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, a large number of manufacturers of cutting, bending, and slicing machines leading the domestic and international machinery industries participated to provide a comprehensive overview of global industry trends and the future of the machinery industry to be realized through smart factories and manufacturing innovation.

This year's exhibition saw the participation of major laser processing machine companies such as Trumpf GmbH Korea, Bystronic Korea, and HK, as well as global machine tool manufacturer DMG Mori Korea and overseas equipment manufacturers such as JINAN BODOR CNC MACHINE and WUHAN HG LASER ENGINEERING.

Existing specialized itemsAlong with the main hall, the Smart Manufacturing Automation Technology Exhibition, Busan Root Industry Joint Hall, Busan Mold Special Hall, and Green New Deal Policy Hall were organized as special halls.

In particular, the Busan Smart Manufacturing Automation Technology Exhibition, which was held in Exhibition Hall 2, was moved to Exhibition Hall 1 this time to ensure safe disease prevention routes and increase visitor convenience.

Leading companies in smart factory construction, such as Hiwin Corporation, Sanyo Electric Korea, iRobo, Rainbow Robotics, and Vizentro, participated in the Busan Smart Manufacturing Automation Technology Exhibition and shared the current status of smart manufacturing trends with visitors.

In addition, the Busan Root Industry Joint Pavilion was operated to strengthen the competitiveness of the root industry and revitalize the manufacturing sector.

Root industries are the foundation of manufacturing and determine the competitiveness of national key industries such as automobiles, shipbuilding, and IT. Products from representative Busan companies, including casting, welding, and surface treatment, were promoted on a scale of 30 booths featuring 10 companies.

In addition, the 'Busan Mold Special Pavilion' was planned to showcase the mold industry, which plays a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of the shipbuilding and automotive industries in the southeastern region. In particular, this special pavilion is attracting significant interest from both the supply and demand sectors as it marks the first time this year that an offline mold exhibition is being held. Member companies of the Busan-Gyeongnam Mold Industry Cooperative are already planning a group visit during BUTECH 2021.

Furthermore, the 'Green New Deal Policy Pavilion' to be showcased at this exhibition holds significance in that it is differentiated from existing special pavilions by presenting regional balanced New Deal projects linked to national balanced development policies.

The 'Green New Deal Policy Pavilion' introduced Digital New Deal and Green New Deal projects in the Southeast region, including Busan's 'Establishment of a Leading Digital Cluster' and 'Creation of a Power Semiconductor Industry Cluster'; Gyeongnam's 'Acceleration of Digital Transformation in Manufacturing Sites' and 'Creation of an RE100 Green Industrial Complex Linked to Offshore Wind Farms'; and Ulsan's 'Creation of an ICT-based Future Smart City' and 'Creation of a Floating Offshore Wind Power Cluster'.

Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon stated, “I am confident that this year’s exhibition will become a venue for business trade where organic mutual cooperation is possible, as over 370 companies and public institutions are participating,” adding, “I hope that this Busan International Machinery Fair will serve as a turning point for Busan’s machinery industry to take a leap forward, and the city will strive even harder to create a ‘Green Smart City Busan.’”
