Intel, Wi-Fi 6E Support at Computex 2021
Two Laptop Processors and 5G M.2 Solution Unveiled


With the spread of COVID-19 increasing demand for remote learning and working from home, mobility, performance, and connectivity are becoming important in the PC market. On the 31st, Intel announced the expansion of its '11th Gen Intel® Core™' processor lineup at 'Computex 2021,' hosted by the Taiwan Association for External Trade Development (TAITRA).

The two newly unveiled processors are equipped with Intel® Iris® Xe graphics and provide performance for thin-and-light Windows laptops through joint engineering with ISVs and OEMs. In addition, the Intel® 5G Solution 5000 product was announced in collaboration with MediaTek and Fibocom.

The 11th Gen Intel Core processor family delivers up to 5GHz performance for the first time in thin and light laptops. Additionally, it provides enhanced connectivity by supporting the 6GHz band via Wi-Fi 6/6E (Gig+) in select regions. It attempted to reduce bottlenecks by equipping it with '2nd Generation Intel Optane™ Memory H20'.

Intel stated that the 'Intel Core i7-1195G7' provides up to 25% higher application performance compared to the 'AMD Ryzen 7 5800U' processor, up to 8 times faster transcoding through ISV optimization, and up to 2 times faster video editing speeds, and introduced that games like 'Valheim' can be played at 1080P resolution with up to 2.7 times higher frame rates.

Starting with laptops from Acer, Asus, Lenovo, and MSI to be released this summer, more than 60 products based on the i7-1195G7 and Intel Core i5-1155G7 are scheduled to be released by the end of the year. Approximately 250 products based on the 11th Gen Core U series are also scheduled to be released by the end of the year.

'Intel® EVO™' platform certified laptops are co-designed to ensure exceptional responsiveness, long battery life, instant system restarts, and outstanding connectivity. To date, more than 85 products have been certified and released to the market, and Intel expects over 100 products from more than 15 manufacturers to be certified by the end of the year.

Intel 5G Solution 5000, the first 5G M.2 solution certified by carriers worldwide, provides speeds approximately five times faster than Intel Gigabit LTE. We have partnered with MediaTek for product definition, development, certification, and support for 5G modem solutions, and are also collaborating with Fibocom to supply the '5G M.2 solution (FM350-GL™)'.

Acer, Asus, and HP are scheduled to launch the first laptops based on Intel's 5G Solution 5000 within this year, and more than 30 laptops are expected to be released in 2022.
