Schneider Electric APC's UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is expected to be increasingly chosen by NAS (Network Attached Storage) users, as it is optimally suited for home use based on its cost-effectiveness and outstanding stability.

Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital innovation in the field of energy management and automation, held a press conference at its Magok office in Seoul on the 1st and explained the need for home UPS due to remote work and surging power demand.

Choi Dong-hoon, Manager of Schneider Electric’s Secure Power business unit, who was in charge of the presentation that day, introduced Schneider Electric APC’s home UPS.

According to Manager Choi Dong-hoon, APC's new UPS 'BVX' is released in two capacities, 700VA and 1,200VA, and features a small size that looks natural even when placed on a desk.

It features an LED indicator function that allows you to check the remaining charge status at a glance, and can sufficiently protect devices such as a 4-bay NAS and internet routers from power outages or overvoltage issues. It has the capacity.

In addition, the 'BX' model is a universal tower-type product that uses maintenance-free lead-acid batteries and supports capacities ranging from 12V 7Ah to 9Ah. Based on a line-interactive topology, it provides an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) function that instantly adjusts voltage fluctuations without using batteries.

The 'BE' model is a best-selling product that allows for data cable connection. By plugging a USB into the product, it can be recognized by a Synology NAS and automatically shuts down safely in the event of a power outage.

Each product is easy to install and use; simply plug the power cord into an outlet and press the power button. There are no management functions via a separate PC or network connection, and the user is notified only by an LED on the main unit and an alarm sound in the event of abnormal situations, such as battery failure due to a power outage.

In particular, this APC UPS has been optimized for home use to lower the price barrier, allowing general consumers to access it at an affordable price.

At this meeting, Jin Seong-hun, Deputy General Manager of Able Store, Synology's Korean importer, also gave a presentation on Synology NAS.

Deputy General Manager Jin Seong-hun stated that the reason the combination of Synology NAS and APC UPS is essential is that when a NAS is connected to an APC UPS, it provides the ability to recognize each other's devices via Plug & Play and automatically run applications. He also stated that in the event of an unexpected power outage, the program can be safely terminated through the automatic shutdown function.

"In the domestic situation where power supply is relatively stable, if a UPS can be maintained for approximately 10 to 15 minutes during a power outage, that would be sufficient to restore power supply or completely shut down equipment normally," said Choi Dong-hoon, a manager at Schneider Electric. "Through this event, we hope that home uninterruptible power supplies will be introduced to personal storage devices to build a stable IT environment and safely store data."
