Magic Information, a leading Chinese provider of AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) fingerprint recognition technology, has launched a smart lock reference design using technology from STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company supporting various electronic applications and customers.

ST announced on the 16th that AIoT fingerprint recognition technology running on ST's STM32WB55 BLE (Bluetooth® LE) microcontroller (MCU) was used in the Magic Information smart lock solution.

The Magic Information smart lock reference design leverages the dual cores (Arm® Cortex® M0+ and M4) of the STM32WB55, which are designed for excellent interoperability between Bluetooth LE 5.2 in addition to the hosting MCU and fingerprint recognition.

Magic Information’s fingerprint recognition algorithm is executed on a high-performance STM32WB55 MCU to recognize and unlock the device within 0.3 seconds while ensuring ultra-low power consumption.

This reference design is currently available in various fingerprint sensors, sizes (80x64, 112x88, 176x64, 160x160, etc.), and packaging methods to ensure the best user experience and cost competitiveness. The quality of this turnkey solution has been proven through mass production. In addition, with significantly improved product implementation and development efficiency, the time-to-market is expected to be shortened to within 20 business days.
