The Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, the control tower of the Korean carbon industry, has been recognized as the best institution for training carbon composite material experts.

The Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency announced on the 22nd that it received the highest grade, Grade A, in the '2020 National Human Resources Development Consortium Project Strategic Sector Performance Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Human Resources Development Institute of Korea.

In this evaluation, the Promotion Agency reportedly received high scores in most categories, including training course design and operation, professionalism of dedicated personnel, and training outcomes.

In fact, last year, the Promotion Agency provided specialized training in carbon composites to approximately 720 people through an industrial human resource development program targeting approximately 660 partner companies.

As a result, 93.6% of participating companies responded that the training contributed to improved management performance and significantly contributed to the development of technologies and new products. Similarly, 93.2% of trainees reported that the training was highly effective, demonstrating tangible benefits, including capacity building and improved performance for their companies through on-site application.

This evaluation by the Promotion Agency is the result of the comprehensive efforts to boldly expand educational infrastructure and develop organizational capabilities.

For example, after being selected for the National Human Resources Development Consortium project in 2012, the Promotion Agency established a Carbon Technology Training Center and installed 28 types of equipment, including carbon fiber polymerization, spinning, and oxidation equipment, and 15 types of software. This year, the center also installed AR/VR equipment for remote training in response to COVID-19. The total number of people who have participated in carbon composites training conducted using these facilities and equipment is approximately 6,000.

Furthermore, the Promotion Agency plans to quench the thirst for educational demand by introducing a five-axis filament winding machine for hydrogen fuel storage tank training by October 2021.

Bang Yoon-hyuk, president of the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency, emphasized, “As the control tower of Korea’s carbon industry, the Agency will strive to contribute greatly to the development of national industries by fostering small and medium-sized industries centered on carbon composites and training specialized personnel.”

Meanwhile, the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency's consortium training program is open to all employees, not just companies that have signed training agreements. Employees of priority support companies (SMEs) can receive training completely free of charge, while large companies can participate for a nominal fee. Customized on-site training is also available for groups of 20 or more.
