Samsung Electronics Hosts the 2021 Samsung Junior SW Creation Contest
Published2021.06.30 16:15Samsung Electronics will host the '2021 Samsung Junior SW Creation Contest' for youth starting July 1st.
The 'Samsung Junior SW Creation Contest' is a competition that Samsung Electronics has been holding since 2015 to discover and cultivate future software talent. All you have to do is discover any inconveniences or problems in your daily life and suggest solutions using software.
As of last year, 39,670 youths from 11,354 teams participated in the competition.
The Samsung Junior SW Creation Contest is hosted by Samsung Electronics and sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, and the Software-Oriented University Council.
This year's competition, now in its 7th year, is themed "A Better Future Created with Software," and anyone interested in software, from 4th graders in elementary school to middle and high school students, can participate.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the entire process will be conducted online.
Samsung Electronics has structured the competition so that young people can easily learn software by learning about coding, open source, copyright, etc. as well as 'design thinking' education that allows them to participate in the competition and solve problems from the user's perspective, even if they have a brilliant idea and no software knowledge.
Teams that advance to the finals will also receive mentoring from Samsung Electronics software developers.
Samsung Electronics executives and employees develop ideas with participating teams and provide in-depth feedback on software development.
Additionally, Samsung Electronics will also hold an open class on the 3rd, allowing anyone to learn AI and listen to lectures from software experts online.
This year, a total of 11 teams will be selected for the final award of the 'Samsung Junior SW Creation Contest', including 1 grand prize winner, 3 best prize winners, 3 excellence prize winners, 3 encouragement prize winners, and 1 sympathy prize winner, and will receive cash prizes and IT products.
Samsung Electronics also donates IT products such as laptops and tablets to the schools where the winning teams belong.
The finals for this competition will be held until October, with awards presented in November.A meal is scheduled to be held.
Youth who wish to participate can apply on the website (www.juniorsoftwarecup.com) from July 1st to 4:00 PM on the 21st.
