ABB has been selected as a platform partner to optimize the performance of HSD engines for marine applications.

ABB announced on the 16th that it will provide Tekomar XPERT, ABB's diagnostic and advisory software, to ship owners who operate medium and low-speed marine engines from HSD Engine, a Korean integrated engine manufacturer.

Tekomar XPERT is a digital performance optimization platform applicable to all engines, helping shipping companies save fuel and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Under this agreement, HSD Engine plans to strengthen its position in the market by offering Tekomar XPERT software as an option to ship owners.

HSD engine customers implementing Tekomar XPERT will benefit significantly from support in improving engine performance. The software's performance assessment and advisory capabilities are based on high-quality, reliable engine operating data, transforming it into actionable insights to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, and optimize maintenance. Additionally, the Tekomar XPERT web version for fleets allows managers to benchmark and optimize engine performance across multiple fleets with multiple engine types.

HSD Engine (formerly Doosan Engine) has been supplying medium- and low-speed marine engines developed by major engine technology companies since 1983, delivering 90 to 100 engines annually.

ABB Ability Tekomar XPERT is currently installed on over 2,000 vessels and over 8,000 engines.
