ASML's second-quarter 2021 operating results continued their strong performance, increasing 21% year-over-year. Notably, Korea continued to lead the region in terms of sales.

ASML announced its second-quarter 2021 financial results on the 21st. According to the results, sales reached €4.02 billion, a 20.9% increase year-over-year, and operating profit reached €2.045 billion, a 27.6% increase year-over-year. Net income was 1.038 billion euros, up 38.2% year-on-year.

This increase in performance is attributed to increased sales of EUV equipment and rising prices of EUV equipment compared to last year.

The gross profit margin for the second quarter reached 50.9%, and the net booking revenue for the second quarter was 8.3 billion euros.

The field with the largest sales share was EUV, with 45%, surpassing ArFi's 34%.

The final consumer showed a distribution of 72% logic and 28% memory.

By region, Korea accounted for the largest share of sales at 39%, followed by Taiwan at 36%, China at 17%, and the United States at 6%.

By equipment, there were 9 EUV units, 16 ArFi units, 7 ArF dry units, 31 KrF units, and 9 I-Line units.

In the third quarter of 2021, sales are expected to reach 5.2 billion to 5.4 billion euros, with a gross profit margin of 51 to 52%.

The company plans to implement a new share repurchase program worth €9 billion by December 31, 2023.

Long-term demand exists for both leading-edge and legacy processes in logic and memory." ASML is making significant efforts to maximize its production capacity and expects its 2021 sales to increase by approximately 35% compared to last year, with a profit margin of 51% to 52%,” he said.

ASML announced its third-quarter earnings forecast for this year, predicting sales of approximately 5.2 to 5.4 billion euros, a profit margin of 51 to 52 percent, and research and development expenses of approximately 654 million euros and selling, administrative, and general affairs expenses of 180 million euros.
