Myeong Seong-ho, the newly appointed president of the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), stated in his inaugural address that he would create an organizational culture to prepare for the future era, emphasizing bottom-up organizational innovation and the discovery of projects that are tangible to the public and businesses.

The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute held an inauguration ceremony for its 14th new president, Myung Sung-ho, at the auditorium of its Changwon headquarters on the 18th. The inauguration ceremony was held online in consideration of the social distancing measures due to COVID-19.

President Myung Sung-ho, who was appointed through an extraordinary board meeting of the National Science and Technology Research Council on the 13th, stated in his inaugural address, “My ultimate goal as president is to swiftly prepare for the new future of KERI that will unfold and to firmly lay the foundation for a sustainable research institute.”

To achieve these goals, key directions were presented, including: reorganizing the implementation system to successfully accomplish the agency's mission; identifying tasks that the public and businesses can tangibly experience as results; making efforts to improve and transition the workforce structure to be software-centric to lead the future era; and unleashing 'collective genius' through the establishment of an organizational culture of 'bottom-up innovation' in which all employees participate proactively.

Director Myung continued by urging, “I hope that all KERI employees will take the lead in making this a workplace where everyone can work happily in a good environment, by looking toward ‘hope’ rather than fear of the future, and ‘harmony’ rather than conflict and confrontation.”

KERI, the only specialized electrical research institute in Korea, has pledged to make a new leap toward becoming a world-class specialized electrical research institute through the inauguration of its new president, Myung Sung-ho.

Meanwhile, the term of office for Director Myung-ho Myeong, who prioritizes substance and content over form and emphasizes work efficiency and future hope through positive leadership, is three years starting from August 17, 2021.

Director Myung-ho Myeong graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Seoul National University in 1981 and obtained master's and doctoral degrees from the same university.

Since joining KERI in 1985, he served in succession as the Head of the Electric Environment Transmission Research Group, Head of the Next-Generation Power Grid Research Division, Head of the Future Strategy Office, Vice President of Research, and Vice President of Testing. Externally, he served as the Korean representative for the electrical environment sector of the International Council on Large Electric Grids (CIGRE), a member of the Open Management Committee of KEPCO, and a director of Gyeongnam Technopark. Currently, he serves as a director of the Korean Energy Society, a member of the Korea Technical Standards Committee of the Korea Electric Association, and a member of the Steering Committee of the Korea Electric Industry Promotion Association.
