'Smart Factory Expo + Automation World 2021', Asia's leading specialized exhibition for the automation industry, will be held without disruption despite the COVID-19 Level 4 restrictions, in strict compliance with government quarantine guidelines.


COEX (President Lee Dong-won) announced that the 'Smart Factory Expo + Automation World 2021 (hereinafter SF+AW 2021)', the largest domestic exhibition specializing in the smart factory and automation industry, will be held simultaneously online and offline for three days starting September 8.

SF+AW 2021 is Asia's leading smart manufacturing technology exhibition that showcases new manufacturing technologies and solutions leading the post-COVID era in one place, allowing visitors to examine the current status and future of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Korea.

Held under the theme 'The Future of Digital New Deal,' this exhibition consists of the Smart Factory Expo, aimex, and the Korea Vision Show. Approximately 450 smart factory, machine vision, and automation companies—an increase compared to the 2019 event prior to COVID-19—will participate with around 1,500 booths, creating a battleground for new technologies across the entire COEX hall.

In particular, this exhibition offers a glimpse into the future direction of smart manufacturing centered on manufacturing AI, digital twin, and 5G technology at the 'Future Smart Manufacturing Special Pavilion,' which features 18 leading smart factory companies including LS Electric, Omron Control Systems, Mitsubishi Electric, and Festo.

In addition, an online exhibition will be held simultaneously for visitors who are unable to visit the physical exhibition. SF+AW 2021 will open an online exhibition hall (Online Edition) in early August, allowing visitors to view exhibitors and products, make price inquiries, and conduct 1:1 online business consultations. During the event, on-site scenes and interviews with exhibitors will be broadcast live in real time.

COEX President Lee Dong-won stated, “With the manufacturing industry, a key sector, taking a hit due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we are proceeding with SF+AW 2021 as scheduled to provide a new business breakthrough for manufacturing companies,” adding, “We are fully prepared with thorough disease prevention measures to provide a business exhibition environment where both participating companies and visitors can visit with peace of mind.”

COEX plans to implement thorough disease prevention measures in compliance with the government's strengthened social distancing guidelines to ensure that exhibitors and visitors can safely enjoy the exhibition. On-site staff from exhibitors will be permitted to attend only if they test negative in a PCR test prior to the event, and strict management will be enforced on-site, including limiting the number of people allowed to enter simultaneously, as well as conducting temperature checks and hand sanitization upon entry. In addition, the exhibition hall is designed to be similar to the outside air through a ceiling height of over 15 meters and constant inflow of outside air.
