LG Electronics announced on the 8th that its "SW Certified Testing Laboratory" has been recognized by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS), an affiliate of the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, as an internationally accredited testing organization capable of testing the functional safety of automotive software. Automotive software functional safety (ISO 26262-6) is becoming increasingly important as global automakers demand highly secure components.

LG Electronics can test the advanced technologies developed in a wide range of areas, including various electronic devices installed in automobiles, vehicle networks, and autonomous driving, at a SW accredited testing laboratory before applying them to the full-scale electric vehicle business, thereby checking the quality and functional safety.

The SW Accredited Testing Laboratory has already been recognized as an internationally accredited testing organization in the fields of software quality measurement (ISO/IEC 25023) and software functional safety (IEC 61508-3) for electrical and electronic products, including home appliances, TVs, robots, eco-friendly energy, AI, cloud computing, software platforms, and applications. With this, LG Electronics has become the only domestic manufacturer that can independently test and issue official reports on software quality measurement and functional safety of electrical and electronic products, as well as the functional safety of automotive software, without the help of external organizations.

The certified test report from the SW accredited testing laboratory is recognized as having the same validity as the test report issued by accredited testing agencies in approximately 70 major countries in accordance with the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Agreement (ILAC-MRA).
