A venue was set up to present the strategic direction of smart manufacturing innovation and explore the future of smart manufacturing.

The Smart Factory Construction and Production Automation Exhibition (SMATEC 2021) will hold a conference from November 10 to 11 under the themes of 'Strategic Direction of DX-based Smart Manufacturing Innovation' and 'The Future of Smart Manufacturing'.

The conference on the 10th will be divided into one morning session and four afternoon sessions, and the theme of the morning Session 1 is 'Smart Manufacturing Innovation Policy and the Future of Manufacturing'.

In this session, following congratulatory remarks by Park Jong-chan, Head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Planning Group at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Joo Young-seop, Distinguished Professor at Seoul National University and Chairman of KICON, and Park Han-gu, Head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group, will participate as keynote speakers. Subsequently, a discussion forum on the theme of "The Future of Manufacturing and Our Response Strategies" will be held under the chairmanship of Kang Sung-joo, Vice President of the Internet of Things Association, featuring Jang Seok-in, Professor at Korea University of Technology and Science, Park Han-gu, and Joo Young-seop.

The afternoon session will consist of four separate sessions under the theme of 'Key Technologies for Smart Manufacturing Innovation'.

In Session 2, MachinaRocks CEO Yoon Sung-ho introduced 'Toward Operational AI in Manufacturing,' while Robot & Design Chairman Kim Jin-oh discussed 'The Role of Robots in Smart Manufacturing Innovation.' Introducing... Along with this, Professor Seo Seok-hwan of POSTECH is scheduled to continue the presentation on the topic of 'Cyber physically controlled smart additive manufacturing'.

Session 3 will begin with a lecture on 'The Metaverse and the Future of Manufacturing' introduced by Professor Chang-Kyu Park of Konkuk University, followed by presentations on 'AAS for Digital Twin Implementation' by Professor Seung-Ho Hong of Hanyang University and 'Digital Twin Solution for Smart Factory Implementation' by CEO Su-Jin Park of RCK.

Session 4 will feature presentations by companies under the theme of "Latest Trends in German Manufacturing DX and Domestic Application Strategies." Among them, Jae-hak Byun, Head of Division at Siemens, will introduce "Automotive PLM Solutions," followed by Seok-woo Lee, Team Leader at Bosch Rexroth, who will continue with a presentation on topics related to automated machinery. Finally, Dae-young Jung, Head of Division at SAP, will deliver a lecture on "DX with ESG: ESG Trends in Major German Companies and SAP's Support Solutions."

In the final session, 'Session 5,' a discussion will be held on the topic of 'Why Adidas Speedfactory and Knit for You, representative examples of Germany's Industry 4.0, failed, and which fields in Korea are suitable for Bespoke application.' Professor Park Chang-kyu of Konkuk University, along with Kim Sun-young, Head of Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, Jo Young-deuk, CEO of CY, and Han Chang-jik, CEO of ASPN, are scheduled to attend this discussion.

The conference on the 11th is scheduled to proceed with a total of eight sessions under the theme 'The Future of Smart Manufacturing - Engineering Conference,' covering strategy, design, manufacturing data, robots, AI, 3D printing, digital twin/standardization, and testing and certification. In the strategy session, Director Jang Woong-sung of the Inha University Institute of Convergence Innovation Technology will present on 'Manufacturing Intelligence and Smart Manufacturing Innovation,' while in the design session, Professor Lee Yong-kwan of the Korea University of Technology and Engineering will present on 'Smart Manufacturing System Design - The Beginning and the End.' Following this, in the manufacturing data session, Professor Kim Il-joong, Director of the KAIST Manufacturing AI Big Data Center, will present on 'Introduction to the AI SME Manufacturing Platform (KAMP) and Success Stories.' Finally, in the robot session, Professor Park Tae-joon of the Intelligent Robotics Center at Hanyang University ERICA will present on 'Smart Manufacturing Innovation Based on AI Collaborative Robots.'

In the afternoon, Professor Bae Yu-seok of Korea University of Technology is scheduled to present on 'Smart Factories and Computer Vision' at the AI Session, and ABH CEO Han A-ram will guide the audience on 'Optimization of Surface Treatment Processes Using AI'. Following this, Taerim Industry Vice President Oh Kyung-jin is scheduled to present 'Case Studies of AI Application in Automotive Parts Assembly and the Process of Promoting the K-Smart Lighthouse Factory.' In the 3D Printing Session, Korea Additive Manufacturing User Association President Joo Seung-hwan will present 'The Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Future of Metal 3D Printing (Personalized Production Systems),' and Carima Vice President Lee Kwang-min will present 'Trends and Prospects of Photopolymerization 3D Printing Based on Heterogeneous Composite Materials.'

In the next Digital Twin/Standardization Session, Professor Han Soon-heung, President of KAIST and the Korea Industrial Data Standards Association, will introduce 'Digital Twin Technology Standards,' and Director Baek Tae-hyun of GN Technologies will present 'Application Standards for Digital Twin Technology in the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.' Finally, in the Testing and Certification Session, Division Head Song Tae-seung of the Korea Testing Laboratory will present 'Key Technologies for Smart Factories and Testing and Certification.'
