Hyundai Motor Company has partnered with Korea University Medical Center for future mobility medical services to lower the barrier to medical services for the medically underserved who have difficulty visiting hospitals.

Hyundai Motor announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Korea University Medical Center on the 8th at Korea University Mediscience Park (located in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul) for "joint research on the development of smart medical devices and mobile hospitals," with business officials including Ji Young-jo, President of Hyundai Motor Group Innovation, and Kim Young-hoon, Vice President for Medical Affairs and President of Korea University Medical Center.

Hyundai Motor Company and Korea University Medical Center plan to research and pilot a visiting medical service for 18 months until April 2023 to provide smooth medical services to vulnerable groups and patients with limited mobility due to old age, illness, injury, childbirth, etc.

Based on this business agreement, Hyundai Motor Company provides compact SUVs and large buses, and Korea University Medical Center uses these vehicles to visit nursing homes and the residences of those with mobility difficulties to provide medical care.

A 'mobile hospital system' is scheduled to be established, in which vehicles are equipped with smart medical devices featuring various advanced technologies to enable diverse medical treatments and examinations, and which provides integrated support from disease diagnosis to treatment by linking with Korea University Medical Center's cloud-based hospital information system.

Kim Young-hoon, Vice President for Medical Affairs and President of Korea University Medical Center, stated, “Korea University Medical Center started as a medical education institution for women who were socially vulnerable, and has grown and developed by opening hospitals in medical blind spots and practicing compassionate medicine.” He added, “Through collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company, we expect to improve the health of the elderly and vulnerable groups who have difficulty accessing medical benefits, and take another step closer to our goal of becoming the nation's leading social medical institution.”
