Agilent Korea (CEO Yoon Deok-kwon) has announced the Truevolt series of digital multimeters (DMMs), boasting upgraded performance compared to existing products. The newly introduced Truevolt series allows users to view measurement data in a new way, acquire useful information more quickly, and generate measurement result reports more easily. Furthermore, it enhances measurement accuracy by reducing the influence of external factors such as noise, injected current, and input bias current.

The Agilent 34461A digital multimeter is a replacement for the industry-standard Agilent 34401A digital multimeter and is designed to allow existing 34401A users to easily switch over. The Agilent 34460A provides a 6½-digit digital multimeter as standard.
Compared to the existing 34401A digital multimeter, the new 34461A provides an extended current range from 100 μA to 10 A. Both the 34460A and 34461A have temperature measurement capabilities (RTD/PT100, thermistor), and the extended diode measurement capabilities allow for the measurement of voltages on a larger scale (5V), enabling the testing of more diode types, such as LEDs.
Agilent Korea stated, "Customers trust the results obtained from the 34401A digital multimeter," adding, "Customers can now easily switch to the Truevolt series digital multimeter, experience more convenient usage and new features, and have greater confidence in the measurement results." Most digital multimeters display results via a low-resolution numeric display. The Agilent Truevolt series allows you to view measurement and cumulative values (34461A), measurement histograms, and statistical information on a 4.3-inch high-resolution color display. Additionally, the display environment can be customized, and the settings can be automatically recalled when the device is turned back on.
Furthermore, using a standard USB Media Transfer Protocol that does not require separate drivers, data files can be easily shared by connecting the Agilent Truevolt digital multimeter to a PC via USB. Users can transfer the digital multimeter's measurement data, equipment settings, and screen images to a PC application without additional software.
Digital Multimeter Connection Utility Software allows users to control, capture, and verify the Agilent digital multimeter on the bench. Data can be transmitted to a PC via USB, GPIB, LAN, or RS-232 (if using an older generation Agilent digital multimeter) with a single click.
Truevolt Technology
Signals in actual measurement environments are never perfectly flat. They contain some AC signals originating from power line noise, other environmental noise, or the meter's own injected current. Accuracy varies significantly depending on how well a digital multimeter manages and eliminates these external factors during actual measurements. Agilent Truevolt series digital multimeters, utilizing patented analog-to-digital converter technology, resolve measurement errors caused by these real-world factors, allowing engineers to trust their measurements.
Compared to other companies' digital multimeters, Agilent Truevolt's digital multimeter has less than 30% of the amount of current injected by the meter.
In actual measurement situations, input current adds voltage to the digital multimeter result, creating measurement errors. Truevolt digital multimeters control the input bias current. Digital multimeters from other manufacturers provide 20% lower performance. (Some are so noisy that it is difficult to obtain measurement results.)
Only Agilent uses digital direct sampling technology for AC rms measurements in 6 1/2-digit level meters. As a result, it is possible to calculate the actual rms and avoid the slow response of the analog rms converters used in all third-party 6 1/2-digit digital multimeters, allowing input signals with a crest factor of up to 10 to be measured without additional error terms.
