IAR Systems®, a global provider of software tools and services for embedded development, supports NXP's latest automotive MCUs.

IAR announced today that it is adding NXP Semiconductors' S32K3 MCU family to the extensive list of microcontroller (MCU) families supported by IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm.

The S32K3 MCU is designed for evolving body electronics, battery management, zone and domain controllers.

This expansion of the MCU family that the tool can support will make it easier for developers to maximize application performance, maintain high levels of code quality, and achieve functional safety compliance in their automotive designs.

As today's vehicles become more feature-rich than ever, automotive embedded systems are becoming increasingly complex.

This has led to a need for development tools that can maximize the capabilities of their chosen MCU without compromising workflow efficiency.

IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm provides powerful optimization and comprehensive debugging capabilities, as well as integrated code analysis tools.

Additionally, this tool chain is compatible with international standards for functional safety, such as IEC 61508 and automotive standard ISO 26262. Available in functional safety editions certified by TÜV SÜD according to 10 standards.

The S32K3 MCU is based on the Arm Cortex®-M7 core in single, dual, and lock-stage configurations supporting ASIL B/D safety applications.

Supported features include a hardware security engine with NXP firmware, support for Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) updates, and ISO 26262 compliant Real-Time Drivers software for AUTOSAR and non-AUTOSAR with IAR Embedded Workbench support.
