The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI, President Myeong-ho Myeong) is expected to improve customer satisfaction and enhance testing efficiency by improving the testing environment and expanding customer convenience facilities.

On the 7th, the Korea Electric Power Research Institute held a 'High Voltage Test Building Environmental Improvement Project Completion Ceremony' at its Changwon headquarters with approximately 30 executives and staff in attendance.

The "High Voltage Test Center," as its name suggests, artificially generates extremely high voltages, similar to lightning, to test the performance of power equipment. It rigorously tests equipment to ensure it operates flawlessly even under harsh or environmentally unfavorable conditions, issuing test reports and certifications based on these tests.

KERI, an internationally accredited power equipment testing and certification body, has been conducting this environmental improvement project for three years, from 2019 to this year, to provide customers with even higher-quality service. The existing, aging control room and customer waiting room, measuring 300 square meters (90 pyeong), were demolished and replaced with a three-story, 962 square meter (291 pyeong) expansion and renovation project.

The biggest change is the expansion of convenience facilities. We have more than doubled the space for waiting rooms and seminar rooms for customers who have to wait long hours to take tests or need meetings. Additionally, the 'distribution insulation test', which was previously performed in another building due to lack of space, can now be performed in the newly expanded and renovated high-voltage test building, thereby increasing testing efficiency.

KERI Director Myeong-ho Myeong said, “In order to create the optimal testing facility, our employees participated from the building design stage and put in their best efforts,” and added, “We will continue to work to ensure that customers visiting the institute can receive testing and certification in a stable environment.”

Meanwhile, the high-voltage testing facility is a facility that verifies essential performance, including insulation performance, of power equipment, and is a facility that greatly contributes not only to the growth of the domestic power industry but also to a stable power supply.

Although the power equipment industry has been slowing down due to COVID-19, once the pandemic is over and signs of economic recovery are detected, the power equipment market is expected to expand, leading to increased use of high-voltage testing facilities. This is expected to contribute to the development of the domestic industry by promptly responding to domestic and international power equipment industry demand.

By ensuring that the institute's test reports are accepted in the global market, KERI is contributing significantly to the development of overseas markets for domestic power equipment companies.
