The Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Lee Jeong-hwan), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, has joined hands with Changwon National University (President Lee Ho-young) to solve regional issues.

On the 10th, the Materials Research Institute signed a business agreement with Changwon National University in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the Changwon National University headquarters in Uichang-gu, Changwon-si to strengthen mutual technological capabilities, contribute to industrial development, and promote cooperative projects between the two institutions, and promised to faithfully carry out the agreement.

Established in 1969, Changwon National University is the region's top educational, research, and industry-academia cooperation institution that has made steady efforts to develop the local economy by fostering talents who contribute to the development of the local community and taking the lead in the advancement of the Changwon National Industrial Complex, the mecca of the Korean machinery industry.

Recently, we have been hosting a youth project with Mondragon University in Spain to solve regional problems, thereby creating opportunities for young people to take an interest in regional issues and for regions and universities to work together to actively solve community problems.

Through this business agreement, the two organizations will: △Academic research and exchange (jointly conducting projects, co-hosting seminars, workshops, etc.); △Strengthening job training and recruitment promotion to expand employment of local talent; △Cooperation in field training and experiential activities for university (graduate) students and sharing of data for job creation; △Cooperation through exchange of technical information and mutual technical advice; △Both organizations will: The plan is to carry out mutual use of the institutions' facilities and equipment and mutual exchange of human and material resources.

Korea Institute of Materials Science Director Lee Jeong-hwan said, “As our research institute is located in the region, we always feel our institution’s responsibility and role in the development of the Changwon National Industrial Complex,” and added, “Through this business agreement, we will lay the foundation for academic-research cooperation, and we promise that both institutions will do their best to cooperate so that we can continue to develop the Changwon National Industrial Complex and foster local talent.”
