KEIT is investing 1.02516 trillion won into the Materials, Parts, and Equipment General Team to enhance the global competitiveness of the manufacturing industry and secure future markets.

The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Evaluation and Management (KEIT) announced its R&D budget by industrial sector and new project support programs at the '2022 Government R&D Project Online Joint Ministry Briefing' on the 26th.

The total budget under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2022 is 2,877.8 billion won.

The budget of the Materials, Parts, and Equipment General Team was 1.02516 trillion won, accounting for 35.6% of the total budget.

The Materials, Parts, and Equipment General Team supports the development of materials and parts technologies through the 'Materials and Parts Technology Development' project to enhance the global competitiveness of the manufacturing industry by eliminating dependence on foreign materials, advancing technology, and securing future markets.

The support fields include the 'Materials and Components Package Type' and the 'Materials and Components Heterogeneous Technology Convergence Type'.

The 'Materials and Components Package Type' supports the development of core technologies for the commercialization of production equipment and industrial machinery and systems that provide the foundation for parts and product manufacturing activities, targeting companies, universities, and research institutes to achieve self-reliance and high added value in key industries.

The total budget for this support field is 735.783 billion won, and the budget for new projects is 88.624 billion won.

The 'Materials and Components Heterogeneous Technology Convergence Type' is for the commercialization of machinery, equipment, and core components in fields with high dependence on overseas sources. It supports the securing of a track record and the advancement of previously developed R&D results through the demonstration of those results for the demand and supply companies of the relevant parts.

The budget for the 'Materials and Components Heterogeneous Technology Convergence Type' is 105.173 billion won, with 17.818 billion won invested in new projects.
