Universal Robots, the world's leading collaborative robot company, achieved over 40% growth last year, despite the pandemic-induced supply chain crisis, fueled by continued labor shortages and demand for collaborative robots driven by automation.

Universal Robots announced on the 3rd that it recorded annual sales of $311 million in 2021, a 41% increase compared to 2020.

Universal Robots reported $78 million in revenue in the third quarter of 2021, and its fourth-quarter revenue grew 22% year-over-year, setting a new record for growth.

Universal Robots is a Danish company that pioneered the collaborative robot market in 2008 by producing the world's first collaborative robot, and has maintained its leading position in the domestic and international collaborative robot market share ever since.

Universal Robots has sold over 50,000 collaborative robots to date, accounting for approximately 50% of total collaborative robot shipments worldwide, continuing to increase sales and dispelling concerns about a sluggish market demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Universal Robots had a great year,” said Kim Povlsen, President and CEO of Universal Robots. “For a company like Universal Robots, which manufactures sophisticated hardware to the highest quality standards, achieving this kind of achievement requires the dedication of many people,” he said. “Despite global supply disruptions, the tireless efforts of our supply chain experts allowed our Danish production team to break our internal robot production record by producing 400 robots a week during the fourth quarter.”

Universal Robots expects continued growth in 2022.
