Custom Compute Group Supports Blockchain Development

Intel supports the advancement of sustainable blockchain technology based on its energy-efficient accelerator roadmap.

Intel announced on the 14th that it has established a 'Custom Compute Group' within its Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics Business Unit to support blockchain and new technologies.

The group's goal is to capture blockchain and other custom accelerated supercomputing opportunities at the edge and build custom silicon platforms optimized for customers' workloads.

Blockchain is a technology that has the potential to enable everyone to own a significant portion of the digital content and services they create.

Intel acknowledges that some blockchain technologies require significant amounts of power and says it will develop energy-efficient computing technologies at scale to realize the full potential of blockchain.

Intel is expected to leverage its zetta-scale computing initiative technology to deliver efficient solutions.

The Intel Blockchain Accelerator is expected to ship later this year.

Argo Blockchain, BLOCK, and GRIID Infrastructure are among the first customers of the Intel Blockchain Accelerator.
