SKT to showcase 5G drone solutions at Korea's largest drone show

Participating in the '2022 Drone Show Korea', Korea's largest drone exhibition, on the 24th
T Livecaster Bond, a real-time video surveillance and drone remote control solution.
SK Telecom (CEO Yoo Young-sang) will take the lead in developing the drone industry ecosystem by unveiling a 5G-based drone video control solution at the '2022 Drone Show Korea,' Korea's largest drone exhibition.
SK Telecom showcased its 5G-based drone video control solution at the '2022 Drone Show Korea', Korea's largest drone exhibition held at BEXCO in Busan from the 24th to the 26th.
At this exhibition, SKT unveiled the new 'T Livecaster Bond', which was released in February 2022.
The 'T Livecaster Bond' is a mission computer that can utilize multiple mobile communication networks by being equipped with up to five modems.
'T Livecaster Bond' is expected to expand the scope of use of industrial drones by enabling stable communication connections even when flying in non-urban areas such as islands and mountainous regions where drone delivery and environmental monitoring are required but communication environments are not smooth.
SKT will also exhibit 'T Live Caster', a solution that transmits and receives video captured by drones in real time and allows remote control of drones.
'T Livecaster' is a collaboration between domestic manufacturers, DJI, and Autel RoIt can be connected to all drones released by global drone companies such as Botics.
In addition to drone video control, 'T Live Caster' also allows video control through various cameras such as smartphones and IP CCTV, and can be used as a build-to-order or subscription service that allows for customized product configuration according to the customer's needs.
Since its launch in 2018, 'T Livecaster' has been introduced to over 70 public institutions and industrial sites, and is being used in various fields such as safety management, remote technical support, and live broadcasting.
Choi Nak-hoon, head of SKT Smart Factory CO, said, “‘T Livecaster Bond,’ which will be unveiled for the first time at the 2022 Drone Show Korea, is a drone control solution with significantly improved service quality,” and “We will continue to play a bigger role in the development of the drone industry ecosystem through intelligence solutions.”

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.

ETRI Develops 200Gbps Photodetector… Initiates Localization of Optical Receivers for AI Data Centers
한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)이 채널당 200Gbps급 광신호를 처리하는 광검출기 소자를 국내 최초로 개발했다. 이 소자는 광신호를 전기신호로 바꾸는 부품으로, AI 데이터센터와 5G·6G 통신망의 수신 성능을 좌우한다. ETRI는 70GHz 이상 대역폭과 0.75A/W 이상 광응답도를 구현했고, 칩 후면에 인듐인화물 렌즈를 집적해 광수신 효율과 정렬 편의성을 높였다고 밝혔다. 기술은 OECC 2025에서 발표됐고 최근 국제학술지 ‘Optics Express’에도 게재됐다.
