The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Moon Seung-wook) has begun to systematically implement policies following the enforcement of the Industrial Digital Transformation Promotion Act in July.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 7th that it is launching a dedicated organization called the 'Industrial Digital Transformation Task Force' to systematically promote policies for the spread of digital transformation in the industrial sector.

This is a measure to accelerate the spread of industrial digital transformation by ensuring the smooth implementation of the provisions set forth in the 'Industrial Digital Transformation Promotion Act,' which passed the National Assembly last December and is set to take effect on July 5.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to appoint a director-level official (Noh Geon-gi, Director General of Industrial Technology Convergence Policy) as the head of the newly established task force and compose the task force with personnel responsible for digital transformation from the Ministry and related agencies.

Moving forward, the task force plans to oversee the digital transformation of the industrial sector, formulate national strategies, and systematically support corporate digital transformation and inter-company collaboration activities.

First, a comprehensive plan will be established through a survey on the status of industrial digital transformation, and a joint public-private Industrial Digital Transformation Committee will be formed to discuss specific measures.

We will designate Industrial Digital Transformation Collaboration Support Centers nationwide to identify and support leading projects, while fostering digital technology suppliers into specialized companies supporting industrial digital transformation.

In addition, it promotes collaboration among companies through the establishment of industrial data contract guidelines, industrial data standardization and quality management, and the construction and operation of industrial data platforms.

An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated, “With the launch of the task force, our companies are moving beyond the level of digitalization, which involves applying digital technology to certain activities."We will consolidate internal and external capabilities to provide support for advancing toward digital transformation through manufacturing intelligence, the discovery of new business models, and inter-company connection and collaboration," he stated.
