ON Semi launches a high-power totem-pole PFC controller that meets stringent efficiency standards, supporting rapid time-to-market for solutions by reducing development time and costs.


ON Semi recently announced a new mixed-signal controller that supports the Bridgeless Totem Pole PFC (TP PFC) topology.

NCP1681 is designed for ultra-high density offline power supplies and expands power capacity to the kilowatt (kW) range, building on the success of NCP1680, which is suitable for designs up to 350W.

Conventional TP PFCs required a microcontroller (MCU) that was difficult to design and required coding. The newly unveiled NCP1681 enables the implementation of a fully functional TP PFC solution using only a few external components without coding, saving time, cost, and space.

Regarding this launch, Robert Tong, Senior Vice President of Computing and Cloud at ON Semi, explained, “The new NCP1681 extends the benefits of code-free TP PFC designs into higher power domains. This enables customers to continuously improve design efficiency, reduce design time and costs, and bring solutions to market quickly.”
