HID Global® is integrating and optimizing its desktop readers and reader modules with a new security chip, delivering a broader range of integrated capabilities.

HID Global unveiled the OMNIKEY® Secure Element on the 4th.

The newly released security chip provides a simpler industry standard for reader manufacturers and companies developing RFID-based secure connected solutions, enabling applications in a wide range of sectors, including connected workplaces, healthcare, education, and office buildings.

The new OMNIKEY® Secure Element is the successor to the iCLASS SE processor, maintaining compatibility with existing iCLASS SE processors while integrating and optimizing HID Global's desktop readers and reader modules and providing a broader range of integration capabilities to build a high-quality, integrated embedded and desktop product portfolio.

For example, it supports authentication technologies such as e-wallets, mobile IDs, and employee badges, and is applied to secure access identification and authentication applications ranging from locker management to electric vehicle charging.

Single-chip OMNIKEYⓡ Secure Element is designed to provide seamless security for reader devices across a wide range of businesses requiring secure printing, time and access control, including smart offices, universities, healthcare facilities, and government agencies.

It provides a high-quality security service that takes advantage of all the advantages of Seos® credential technology, such as multi-application converged access for mobile phones, and is applicable to HID Global products including iCLASS and third-party card protocols such as NXP Semiconductors' MIFARE DESFire®.
