Support for contactless digital keys on Samsung and Apple smartphones
Digital Key 2 function can be activated via OTA

A feature that allows you to open car doors and start the engine even if you have your smartphone in your pocket or bag is available in Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles.

Hyundai Motor Group announced on the 12th that it has launched the contactless 'Digital Key 2' service that applies ultra-wideband wireless communication (UWB).

The service will be applied selectively to the Genesis GV60 with the Digital Key 2 option, followed by the G90 and future Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles.

Digital Key 2 functionality can be automatically activated via over-the-air (OTA) software update.

Afterwards, you can use the updated features by registering a new key on a Samsung or Apple smartphone that supports Digital Key 2 (UWB). Compatible smartphone models can be found on the official Genesis website and the smartphone manufacturer's website.

The contactless Digital Key 2 function was developed in accordance with the technical standards of the 'Car Connectivity Consortium', and Hyundai Motor Group is the first automaker in the world to have the digital key function simultaneously compatible with smartphones manufactured by Samsung and Apple.

Hyundai Motor Group has applied new ultra-wideband wireless communication technology to develop a contactless digital key 2. In particular, from the development stage of the GV60 and G90 vehicles, hardware for providing UWB services was reflected in advance to ensure compatibility between vehicles and smartphones.

The new Digital Key 2 feature introduced through this wireless software update is characterized by significantly improved distance and direction recognition accuracy compared to the existing digital key that only applied Bluetooth and near field communication (NFC) technology, thereby enhancing customer convenience.

Accordingly, GV60 owners with the Digital Key 2 option can enter and lock their vehicles simply by carrying their smartphones through wireless software updates.

In addition, the car can be started without placing the smartphone on the wireless charger equipped with an NFC antenna in the car, and it also supports a smart trunk function that automatically opens the trunk when the smartphone approaches the detection area behind the trunk and waits for more than 3 seconds.

Additionally, when you approach the vehicle with your smartphone in your hand, the puddle lamps light up and the side mirrors unfold, providing a welcome light lighting function through Digital Key 2.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group plans to further enhance customer convenience by collaborating with smartphone manufacturers to enable the use of Digital Key 2 on smartphones manufactured by Xiaomi, Huawei, and others in the future.
