A forum has been set up to discuss ways to build smart factories to realize digital twins in the post-corona era.

Mouser Electronics, a global distributor of semiconductors and electronic components, held the 'Mouser Industrial Automation Seminar 2022' online seminar for two days from Wednesday, April 27 to Thursday, April 28.

This Mouser seminar focused on the latest trends and cutting-edge technologies in smart factories under the theme of 'Building smart factories and introducing innovative technologies for realizing digital twins in the post-corona era.'

The seminar opened on Wednesday, April 27 with a welcoming speech by Daphne Tien, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Mouser Electronics Asia Pacific. “Mouser has been providing education to help engineers understand a variety of applications and be inspired by their design activities,” said Vice President Daphne Tien. “We hope that this Mouser Industrial Automation Seminar will provide an opportunity to share deep insights into the various basic technologies and industry trends required to build a smart factory.”

This was followed by presentations on △ADI industrial automation technology solutions (Kim Ryung-mo FAE / Analog Devices) and △Infineon’s high-efficiency motor solutions for industrial automation (Song Hyeon-su, Manager, Song Byeong-cheol / Infineon).

ADI FAE Kim Ryeong-mo said, “ADI’s solutions for realizing Industry 4.0 can improve manufacturing stability and enhance productivity and efficiency through predictive maintenance.”

This seminar covered ADI's specialized MEMS sensors, wireless solution Voyager3, industrial network solutions, isolator product line, IO-Link solutions, industrial robot solutions, position feedback products, and AI security solutions, and a demo booth was operated to conduct real-time Q&A.

Infineon's Vice President Song Hyun-soo introduced Infineon and discussed its IGBT module product line. Infineon's Vice President Song Byeong-cheol introduced the IPM and iMOTION controller product lines related to motor control.


As a special lecture, Lee Soon-yeol, CEO of iTu, gave a presentation on the topic, ‘The importance of securing industrial reliability and preparation for industrial digital transformation.’

CEO Lee Soon-yeol said that it is important to consider the specificities of industrial sites to avoid damage or risk to existing factory functions during digital transformation.

CEO Lee Soon-yeol covered the following topics: △Understanding industrial digital transformation, △Measures to secure industrial reliability and security, △International standard IEC 62443 standard, △Smart factory security threat response measures and reference models, and △Smart factory strengthening measures.

The latest industrial digital transformation trend is the transformation of the entire value chain through data-based digital innovation. The emphasis is on connecting the production site and the entire value chain with data and optimizing it through analysis.

The CEO said that a new innovation process is needed that takes into account not only information technology but also business processes.

The representative mentioned the ISA/IEC 62443 standard and emphasized the importance of establishing industrial automation system security to prevent and respond to intentional or unintentional security accidents in manufacturing sites.
