Introducing a Smart Factory Indoor LoRaWAN Network Construction Plan

Experts have suggested that using LoRa Private and building a LoRaWAN network within smart factories are essential.

At the '2022 IIoT Innovation DAY' seminar held by e4ds in April, Jang Byeong-nam, CEO of Codeju, presented on industrial communication networks under the topic of 'Private LoRa Application Cases and IIoT Indoor LoRaWAN Network Construction.'

CEO Jang Byeong-nam introduced LoRa, explained how to use it for personalization, and shared the theory and practical application cases of building a LoRa network in an IIoT environment.

Founded in 2013, Codeju is a company specializing in the design and sale of IoT-related communication devices and the development and sale of hardware and software. It is registered as a Samsung Electronics partner and also serves as a Vodafone telecommunications reseller.

LoRa is non-Anyone can use it in licensed bands. It is low-power, can be installed in ultra-small devices, and has the longest communication range among LPWA networks, excluding cellular networks. It also boasts low communication module costs.

Looking at the developer documentation, it says that LoRa is capable of long-distance data communication, but is not suitable for large-capacity transmission.

We introduced a case study where private LoRa was used to install and conduct communication tests at plants in Seongnam City and Seo Pacific.

Using LoRa communication, it acts as an intermediary between the end node where various sensors are located and the gateway.

CEO Jang said that smart factories do not require complex network construction and that a LoRaWAN network with low power and low cost characteristics is needed, and explained the construction method, including settings.

In addition to the expensive gateways that we designed ourselves, we introduced a low-cost, KC-certified multi-channel LoRa Gateway.

Lastly, it was explained that it provides a cloud integration hub for integrating and processing data into the network, and an implementation demonstration was conducted to send temperature and humidity data collected from LoRaWAN nodes to a server via a gateway.
