'International Electric Vehicle Expo' Held for the First Time in 3 Years, Featuring 300 Booths... Opens with Great Success

200 companies, 300 booths at ICC Jeju and Jungmun Tourist Complex for 3-6 days
Virtual exhibitions, B2B meetings, conferences, and test drives and experience events organized
The International Electric Vehicle Expo (IEVE), which aims to revitalize the electric vehicle industry and achieve carbon neutrality through green energy, opened its doors with great success despite being held for the first time in three years due to COVID-19, with over 200 companies and 300 booths participating and more than 20,000 visitors attending.
The 9th International Electric Vehicle Expo (IEVE), hosted by the International Electric Vehicle Expo Organizing Committee (co-chairs Kim Dae-hwan, Moon Kook-hyun, Choi Yeol, Jakob Shamash, Albert Lam, and Edmund Arga), will be held from May 3 (Tue) to May 6 (Fri) at the Jeju International Convention Center (ICC JEJU) and the Jungmun Tourist Complex.
With a variety of attractions prepared, including on-site booths and a virtual exhibition featuring 300 booths from 200 companies, B2B business meetings, academic conferences, conferences on various topics, and test drives and experience events, this event is expected to bring over 20,000 visitors from more than 40 countries to Jeju. Major conferences include the 7th General Assembly of the World Electric Vehicle Council & Global EV Forum, the 4th Korean Peninsula Electric Vehicle Policy Forum, and the 1st International Electric Ship Forum, with over 50 sessions held where global experts in electric vehicles, e-mobility, and green energy discuss various global policies.

Tesla, Polestar, Myve, and Vincen held test drive events for the Tesla Model Y, Polestar 2, Myve M1, and others on the lobby floor.
The '1st International University Student Autonomous Driving Competition,' with the participation of 27 major e-mobility universities nationwide, was held, and university students competed with self-driving cars they had built themselves.
Honam University, Jeju Technopark, Daekyung Engineering, Vincen, KSV, Jeju Bike, and others are participating in the 1st floor and outdoor booths to share future electric vehicle and e-mobility industry trends and visions.
Meanwhile, as part of the side event 'The 2nd Korean Peninsula Peace Road Electric Vehicle Grand March,' about 30 electric vehicles that departed from Imjingak on the 1st drove through Gangwon-do, Chungbuk, and Yeosu to Jeju. This grand journey, featuring the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla, and others, contributed to praying for peace on the Korean Peninsula and fostering a shared understanding of the inter-Korean eco-friendly future car industry.
At the opening ceremony held on the afternoon of the 3rd, a keynote speech, a special speech, and a special opening speech by former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon were delivered. Samsung SDI Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun received the World Electric Vehicle Association Award, and Executive Vice President Jang Rae-hyeok, Head of Development at the Large and Medium Battery Business Division, delivered the keynote speech.
Kim Dae-hwan, co-chair of the organizing committee, said, “The International Electric Vehicle Expo is an international exhibition and academic venue visited by 200,000 people and 300 companies from over 50 countries,” and added, “We will cooperate globally for the development of the electric vehicle industry, share a vision of carbon neutrality, and serve as the Davos Forum of e-mobility.”
