With the advent of eSIM solutions that address the inconveniences of traditional SIM cards, next-generation devices are adopting embedded SIM solutions. The NXP SN110 family, featuring eSIM solutions that offer scalability and benefits across countries and carriers, is expected to be incorporated into Xiaomi devices, delivering a seamless consumer experience.

NXP Semiconductors announced on the 12th that it will power the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10T smartphone with its SN110 fusion eSIM solution.

The SN110 family is a highly integrated converged eSIM solution with an embedded secure element that enables advanced features such as secure mobile transfers, payments, and smart access, in addition to cellular connectivity via a GSMA-certified consumer eSIM, NXP said. This all-in-one solution, in an ultra-small form factor with minimal power consumption, allows handset manufacturers to offer consumers remote SIM provisioning and over-the-air updates across multiple MNO subscriptions on the same device.

The convergence eSIM solution emphasized that it offers many advantages over existing SIM cards. Instead of consumers carrying multiple devices or switching SIM cards for international travel, the ability to use multiple profiles on a single device allows device manufacturers to facilitate expansion between different regions with service providers.

The SN110 offers a high level of security, including Common Criteria EAL6+ certification under the GSMA CC Protection Profile, Global Platform, and the GSMA Certification Scheme, NXP said. Through comparative testing with major MNOs worldwide, NXP emphasized that interoperability is ensured for seamless user experiences for consumers, OEMs, and MNOs.

Additionally, the SN110 used in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10T also supports Japan's local contactless protocol, FeliCaTM, ensuring the best user experience for consumers and local MNOs. It is explained that this protocol supports eSIM and NFC functions, allowing the development of smartphones that support multiple regions.
