Expected to secure technological competitiveness through the establishment of a future automobile transition strategy.

The Korea Automobile Research Institute (KARI) and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) are joining hands to take the lead in the development of the future automobile industry.

Director Na Seung-sik of Hanjayeon Institute and Director Lee Nak-gyu of Saenggiwon announced on the 17th that they signed a business agreement to establish a strategy for the transition to future automobiles at Saenggiwon headquarters located in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do.

About 20 people attended the signing ceremony, including the heads of both organizations, Kim Hyeon-cheol, head of the Hanjayeon Research Strategy Headquarters, Han Beom-seok, head of the Hanjayeon Lightweight Metal Materials Research Group, Kim Taek-soo, head of the Saenggiwon Root Technology Research Institute, Lee Seok-woo, head of the Clean Technology Research Institute, and Kim Ho-seong, head of the Jeju headquarters.

This MOU, signed by Nature and Life Sciences, aims to establish an organic cooperative system for the development of the future automobile industry and to revitalize the local economy by strengthening the competitiveness of local industries.

The two organizations plan to promote joint research and industrial development strategies in key technology fields, regular information exchange to foster the future automobile industry, and human resource exchange and joint use of facilities and equipment to foster specialized personnel.

In the joint research strategy in the technology field, Hanjaeyeon is responsible for policies and parts/system technologies related to future vehicles, while Saenggiwon is responsible for the roots, sub-units, and verification/utilization technologies related to future vehicles.

Through mutual cooperation, the two organizations expect to secure technological competitiveness through insightful strategies for the transition to future automobiles, while also driving the development of local industries.

Na Seung-sik, the president of Hanjayeon, said, “In order to be competitive in a market where the ecosystem transition to future automobiles is accelerating, joint research on core technologies is necessary.He said, “Strategy establishment through this should be done quickly and efficiently,” and “We will continue to actively support the achievement of the purpose of the agreement by discovering various areas of technology exchange and cooperation related to future vehicles.”

Lee Nak-gyu, president of the Korea Institute of Mobility and Safety, said, “Based on this MOU, we will expand R&D planning and joint research in the future vehicle new business sector, where small and medium-sized enterprises have strengths,” and added, “We will join forces to support related companies and, furthermore, open the future of Korea as a mobility powerhouse.”
