Applied Materials Korea has taken the lead in creating a sustainable port environment through education and implementation of water quality improvement programs for national rivers in southern Gyeonggi Province.

Applied Materials Korea (CEO Mark Lee) announced on the 30th that it will support the 'Guardians of Our Rivers' activity conducted by the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements (Chairman Lee Kyung-yool) to purify national river water quality and protect the environment.

Applied Materials will donate to our river conservation efforts and support local ecosystem preservation and environmental protection activities through on-site volunteer work by our employees.

After signing the agreement, Applied and the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements employees participated in the activity by throwing EM (Effective Micro-organisms, yeast) soil balls into the Hwangguji Stream in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, to improve water quality.

Mark Lee, CEO of Applied Materials Korea, said, “Social contribution activities for local community coexistence and sustainable growth are in line with Applied Materials’ core values,” and added, “As a global leader, we will continue to make efforts to fulfill our environmental and social responsibilities.”

Meanwhile, Applied conducts EarthWorks campaigns in all global regions every year to encourage employees to sustain the environment. We encourage people to learn about the possibilities and take action. Applied Materials Korea employees will also participate in our river guardian activities, receive environmental education, and participate in water quality improvement activities in five rivers.

In addition to our river protection activities, Applied Materials has been consistently contributing to the local community and promoting mutual growth through activities such as supporting environmental conservation and experiential education for 2,500 elementary, middle, and high school students in Seongnam City last year.
