Accordingly, 'STM32 Discovery Day,' an annual event hosted by STMicroelectronics (hereinafter ST) to support development work and provide the latest information from ST to engineers in diverse markets including home appliances, consumer electronics, medical devices, and industrial systems, is about to open online. We met with Director Choi Kyung-hwa of ST, who is organizing this event, which introduces AI, connectivity, and graphical UI solutions under the main themes of IoT and human-machine interfaces required across industries, to discuss the event.

The 'STM32 Discovery Day', which began in 2017, is celebrating its 6th anniversary this year. Discovery Day is an important ST event that encompasses all STM32 microcontrollers, introducing the new STM32 lineup and ecosystem to domestic embedded industry customers and showcasing trends in the embedded market and various demos.

This year, due to the lingering effects of the pandemic, the STM32 Discovery Day event will be held online. The event is also named the STM32 Discovery Day 'Online Track'. We have worked hard to prepare a variety of information about STM32 that you can enjoy. This year, the STM32 Discovery Day Online Track 2022 plans to cover AI, connectivity, and graphic UI solutions based on STM32 microcontrollers as core topics.

ST's AI solutions, 'STM32Cube.AI' and 'NanoEdge AI', help realize smarter capabilities in end products or applications. We have prepared content introducing ST’s unique development toolset capable of implementing edge computing and embedded AI characterized by low power and low latency. For connectivity solutions, we plan to focus primarily on the STM32W series. By supporting various communication methods required by the IoT market, it will satisfy the needs of many as the best hardware platform for implementing low-power wide-area networks and home IoT devices.

In addition, the TouchGFX graphics solution, which utilizes a state-of-the-art embedded graphics engine to implement mobile phone-level graphic UI, is another important topic that should not be overlooked.

I would like to recommend the TouchGFX solution and voice recognition solution first. In the TouchGFX session, I plan to guide you step-by-step in a tutorial format on how to start building a graphical UI from scratch using TouchGFX, ST's cutting-edge graphics solution.

In addition, in the session covering the 'STM32 Alexa Voice Services (AVS)' solution, which has obtained Amazon's far-field voice recognition certification, you can learn about the components focusing on the Amazon-certified development board and view a demo to verify far-field voice recognition performance.
