STMicroelectronics (ST) has launched a high-density SPI memory with page erasable functionality, enabling a previously impossible combination of firmware management and flexible data storage in the same device.

ST announced on the 27th that it has launched the first Serial Page EEPROM in the market, building on its expertise in Serial EEPROM technology.

This next-generation EEPROM is a high-density SPI memory with page-erasable capability, delivering ultra-low power consumption and unparalleled flexibility and performance.

ST will expand this new Serial Page EEPROM family with 16Mbit and 8Mbit memory capacities in due course, starting with the 32Mbit M95P32.

This innovative architecture allows designers to handle a previously impossible combination of firmware management and flexible data storage in the same device.

This high level of memory integration reduces bill of materials (BoM), shortens time to market, increases application value, and extends battery life by enabling smaller modules with ultra-low power operation.

This device is used in industrial IoT modules, wearables, healthcare, medical, electronic shelf-edge labeling, and smart It is ideally suited for implementing integrated non-volatile memory in new system designs supporting applications such as meters and 5G fiber optic modules.

This completely new Serial Page EEPROM combines ST's patented e-STM 40nm Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) cell technology with a new Smart Page architecture, delivering the benefits of high-density memory for firmware along with high endurance and byte-level flexibility that simplify data logging.

It also provides fast read, erase, and program cycles, enabling high-speed uploads and downloads, reducing manufacturing costs and application-related time.

Faster application startup and reading of quad outputs allow for faster application startup.

This new memory approach offers increased price competitiveness, ease of use, simplified software development, and high reliability.

The non-volatile memory solution provided by Serial Page EEPROM is not only cheaper and consumes less power than FRAM, but also supports improved functions and convenience compared to Serial Flash or Data Flash products.
