SKT and MQNIC Sign Agreement for Telecommunications Big Data Traffic Information Business
Road congestion time and section prediction... Expected to alleviate traffic congestion

SKT is expanding its traffic information generation and verification business using telecommunications big data through an agreement with MQNIC.

SKT announced on the 28th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MQNIC, a company specializing in intelligent transportation systems, at SK T Tower.

The two companies jointly carried out the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's ITS innovation technology contest project last April, including the generation of traffic volume data based on telecommunications big data for general national roads in the metropolitan area, and this MOU was conducted to strengthen cooperation and expand business areas between the two companies.

Moving forward, both companies will utilize traffic and population flow information generated based on telecommunications big data for various areas such as road and traffic information generation and verification, ITS, smart mobility, and smart cities. They announced that they would jointly pursue business in the field.

SKT stated that it utilized AI in the project to improve base station radio wave data errors and applied Location Intelligence technology for high-precision location information conversion, and used the data generated from this for the ITS innovation technology contest.

SKT stated that it expects to contribute to alleviating urban traffic congestion through this project by providing predicted information on road congestion times and sections to public institutions and the general public without the need for separate data collection devices.

In addition, even after this project, we plan to expand the business through continuous investment and development into a nationwide real-time traffic volume provision service, and through the collection of real-time traffic information, we plan to expand the scope from existing vehicle-centric services to various user-centric services such as personal mobility and support for the transportation vulnerable.

Yoo Seung-mo, CEO of MQNIC, stated, "Given the nature of telecommunications big data, it can be utilized in services and businesses across various fields, so we will generate continuous synergy through cooperation with SKT."
