Dassault Systèmes and Samsung Heavy Industries have joined hands to apply MBSE (Model Based System Engineering) technology to ship design for the first time in the shipbuilding industry and to integrate and manage the latest ships at the system level.

Dassault Systèmes announced on the 29th that it signed an MOU with Samsung Heavy Industries to complete a smart yard based on new digital transformation and smart technologies to build a shipyard with unparalleled competitiveness.

This technology collaboration is part of a strategy to respond to the recent rapid increase in LNG ship construction through yard scheduling optimization and related information tracking to shorten construction periods. It will apply MBSE technology to ship design, and through practical verification and application, establish a foundation for integrated management of the latest ships with increasing complexity at the system level.

By reviewing the expanded application of advanced MBSE technology, which is actively being adopted in the automotive and mobility, aerospace, and high-tech industries, Samsung Heavy Industries will be able to further strengthen the competitiveness of its ship development process.

Dassault Systèmes has joined forces with Samsung Heavy Industries' Smart SHI organization to develop DT (Digital Transformation)We will form a consultative body and cooperate to discover joint development items and tasks for implementing smart yards.

In particular, for this collaboration between the two companies, Dassault Systèmes will provide expert personnel and core technologies from its global headquarters as well as its Korean headquarters.

Dassault Systèmes supports the implementation of a platform-based smart yard by linking with Samsung Heavy Industries' existing CAD and legacy systems through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Additionally, we expect to be able to manage the various variables required for construction optimization and improve the accuracy of planning and performance, thereby providing a groundbreaking reduction in construction time to strengthen global competitiveness.

In addition, it is expected that work efficiency, system models, and quality will be significantly improved through multiphysics analysis through simulation, improved control capabilities, and minimization of change response time.
