The Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Lee Jeong-hwan), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Gyeongbuk Technopark (President Ha In-seong) have joined hands to foster the materials and components industry and promote regional economic development.

On the 20th, the Korea Institute of Materials Science held a signing ceremony for a business agreement with Gyeongbuk TP to establish an organic business cooperation system in the main conference room of the Korea Institute of Materials Science building in Changwon, Gyeongnam, and pledged to do their best to strengthen mutual technological cooperation.

Gyeongbuk TP is a hub institution for fostering regional industries, aiming to discover and nurture knowledge-based small but strong technology companies by establishing a cooperative network with regional innovation organizations, including industry, academia, research institutes, and government, and formulating Gyeongbuk industrial development strategies and policies. Its mission is to contribute to technological innovation and the enhancement of corporate competitiveness by supporting the growth of local businesses.

Through this business agreement, the two organizations plan to carry out tasks such as: △technology exchange regarding advanced new materials, future mobility, and eco-friendly convergence fiber materials and components; △securing advanced technology through R&D cooperation for materials and components; △cooperation in business planning and technical support for materials and components; and △cooperation in testing and evaluation of materials and components and the establishment and utilization of databases.

Lee Jeong-hwan, President of the Korea Institute of Materials Science and Technology (KIMS), stated, “Gyeongbuk Technopark is an innovation hub in Gyeongbuk that has served as a pillar of support for corporate growth by discovering and nurturing promising local technology companies.” He added, “Starting with this MOU, KIMS will continuously communicate with Gyeongbuk Technopark and do its utmost to become an institution that contributes not only to the development of the local community but also to national progress.”
