The government is moving to ensure the timely implementation of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster by resolving water supply issues at the Yongin Semiconductor Industrial Complex.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 2nd that it met with the Mayor of Yeoju to resolve the issue of installing water facilities at the Yongin Semiconductor Industrial Complex and held the first meeting of the 'Yongin Semiconductor Industrial Complex Water Facilities TF'.

The Yongin Semiconductor Cluster is a representative private investment project in the semiconductor sector with a total project cost of 120 trillion won, and the government has been supporting the smooth implementation of the project since 2019 by cooperating with local governments and related organizations.

As a result, most administrative procedures and local government permits for the construction of industrial complex infrastructure have been completed, including the completion of licensing procedures related to the construction of power facilities, and only consultations with Yeoju City regarding the construction of water supply facilities remain.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry held a meeting of the 'Yongin Semiconductor Industrial Complex Water Facilities TF' with local governments and related organizations to support the prompt completion of remaining licensing procedures, such as consultations with Yeoju City.

Choi Woo-seok, Director General of Materials Convergence Industry Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, who presided over the meeting, urged the attendees, including local governments and industry representatives, to cooperate closely to promptly resolve licensing-related issues, such as mutual growth measures with Yeoju City, so that the Yongin Cluster Project is not excessively delayed due to licensing issues.

Meanwhile, Choi Woo-seok, Director General of Materials Convergence Industry Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, requested cooperation from Yeoju City for the success of the Yongin Cluster during a meeting with the Mayor of Yeoju (Mayor Lee Chung-woo) held prior to the meeting, and stated that the Ministry would actively mediate to resolve issues related to licensing.
