Vertiv, a specialist in core digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, is adding new rackmount uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and high-density indoor cooling solutions to its edge product portfolio, supporting high-performance, sustainable power.

Vertiv announced the launch of new power and cooling solutions for the network edge, including a new lithium-ion model to its industry-leading line of online uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).

The Vertiv™ Liebert® GXT5 lithium-ion UPS family and the Vertiv™ Liebert® SRC-G room cooling solution are now available for purchase across Asia, including Australia and New Zealand.

“We understand that managing compute at the network edge is becoming increasingly complex,” said Andy Liu, director of integrated rack solutions for Vertiv Asia. “Availability, efficiency and agility are critical values for our customers, and these new Vertiv products address these needs with lithium-ion technology in compact UPSs and high-efficiency room cooling systems for smaller IT spaces.” “Furthermore, these high-efficiency systems can support customers’ sustainability strategies in the data center sector,” he said.

By utilizing higher-power-density lithium-ion, Vertiv delivers more battery life within the same footprint as conventional valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries. Available in capacities ranging from 1 kVA to 3 kVA, the Liebert GXT5 lithium-ion battery offers extended runtime using a 1U lithium-ion external battery cabinet (EBC).

Unlike VRLA batteries, which typically last about 2 to 3 years, lithium-ion batteries last 8 to 10 years (roughly the life of the UPS itself), eliminating the need for potentially costly and inconvenient battery replacements.

Additionally, lithium-ion batteries are significantly lighter than VRLA batteries and perform better at higher temperatures, reducing the need for cooler rack temperatures and, ultimately, lowering cooling energy costs. The Liebert GXT5 lithium-ion comes with a standard five-year warranty for both the UPS unit and the batteries.

To meet UL standards, lithium-ion batteries include an integrated battery management system (BMS) that monitors the battery at the cell level to ensure safe and efficient operation.

The Vertiv™ Liebert® GXT5 Lithium-Ion is compatible with the Vertiv™ Liebert® MicroPOD, an optional maintenance bypass switch that can be installed in the rack behind the UPS, allowing UPS maintenance without taking the protected rack equipment offline.

Meanwhile, Liebert® SRC-G provides optimal availability and efficiency for cooling small IT spaces. Available in capacities ranging from 3kW to 11kW, the Liebert SRC-G wall-mounted unit provides year-round cooling for IT equipment without taking up extra space. The CE-certified Liebert SRC-G family supports reasonable load operation year-round. Equipped with efficient compressor technology, energy-efficient EC fans, and R410A refrigerant, the Liebert SRC-G also features an advanced controller with remote monitoring capabilities for added intelligence when managing edge IT locations.
