The semiconductor industry has urged the swift passage of the Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Act to overcome the semiconductor crisis and secure semiconductor leadership.

The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, semiconductor industry, and academic circles stated on the 26th that the "Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Act," which was proposed through the Special Committee for Strengthening Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness on August 4th, has shown no significant progress in the National Assembly, and urged its swift passage.

According to this, at the critical juncture where the inter-state semiconductor hegemony war is intensifying with the recent passage of semiconductor industry support legislation in the United States aimed at increasing domestic semiconductor production, the "Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Act's" expanded support for specialized industrial complexes (advance funding at the formation stage, shortened permits and approvals, etc.), expanded workforce supply (industry-tailored specialized high schools, etc.), and expanded tax incentives (maximum facility investment deduction rates of 25–35%, extended deduction periods, etc.) will serve as great momentum for the Republic of Korea to secure semiconductor leadership and overcome the crisis.

Additionally, given the characteristics of the semiconductor industry requiring massive capital and workforce, timely support is of paramount importance, and the industry strongly urged the swift passage of this bill.
