Samsung Electronics is expanding its supply of 5G equipment to both the public and private sectors, striving to continuously expand the 5G ecosystem and promote digital innovation.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 31st that it will participate in the domestic '5G convergence service project'.

The 5G Convergence Service Project, led by the Ministry of Science and ICT, aims to discover and expand impactful 5G convergence services by leveraging the characteristics of 5G and 5G technology in the public and private sectors, and to provide opportunities for application of 5G-related technologies and participation in businesses.

E-5G, a communications network that utilizes 5G frequencies to enable general companies other than mobile carriers to directly build 5G networks, has been preparing for commercial services in Korea since last year by allocating 4.7 GHz and 28 GHz as dedicated frequencies for specialized networks.

Through its participation in this 5G convergence service project, Samsung Electronics will provide 'Eum 5G dedicated solutions' in cooperation with public and private organizations in five fields: energy, safety, water resource management, healthcare, and medical education.

In the public sector, Korea Electric Power Corporation (energy), Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (safety), KoreaWe support 5G convergence services that enhance public interest, safety, and security in cooperation with the Korea Water Resources Corporation (Water Resources Management).

In the private sector, we will collaborate with the Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (medical care) and Samsung Seoul Hospital (medical education) to create convergence services that combine cutting-edge medical and communication technologies based on the Ieum 5G platform.

Samsung Electronics plans to provide each demand organization with Compact Core, Compact Macro, and radio base stations supporting 4.7 GHz and 28 GHz, which are dedicated frequencies for specialized networks, through a consortium.

Meanwhile, in May, Samsung Electronics launched the first dedicated 5G network equipment in Korea that supports both 4.7GHz and 28GHz to expand the commercialization of 5G in Korea and promote public interest, and supported the first 5G network commercialization in Korea by applying it to Naver's new building.
